If you're interested in delving into the rich history of Native Americans, look no further than the NOTO Arts Center in Topeka, Kansas. Nestled on the lower level of this vibrant arts hub lies a hidden gem – The DoPiKa Project Museum.

The DoPiKa Project occurs all throughout the community of Topeka each year. In our inaugural year 2023, our featured art and history exhibit was hosted by the Alice C. Sabatini Art Gallery at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, while the NOTO Art Center hosted the Three Sisters exhibit as well as a LandBack ceremony between Evergy and the Kaw Nation. In 2024, our art exhibit consisted of a billboard art gallery - billboards spread throughout Topeka, each one featuring native art and provided by a different company, The history component was part of the Topeka Reflections exhibit at the NOTO Art Center.

NOTO Art Center has been kind enough to partner with the DoPiKa Project to provide a permanent space for a smaller version of the history and art collection, as well as our office. By visiting this location all throughout the year, you can view our permanent art collection and our history panel exhibit which chronicles the Native origins of our city and county. Information sheets and research is available, and cultural classes, workshops and lectures are offered at various times.

2025 will bring a wonderful project which will consist of a main art exhibit with history panels at the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University as well as collaboration with NOTO Art Center in a project in conjunction with Humanities Kansas and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. Details forthcoming!
